Winter Family Fun for Haligonians

For many Haligonian families winter brings to mind sledding, ice skating and building snowmen — or perhaps cozy blankets, books and hot chocolate. Those are all excellent winter fun ideas, but if you’re looking for something a little different this year, we’ve rounded up 10 outings in the Halifax Regional Municipality (OK, nine in the HRM plus one bonus day trip) to fit into your family’s winter plans for 2020.

Halifax’s Christmas and Holiday Parades 2018

Part of the magic of the holiday season is that moment when your family is perched shivering on a curb, waiting eagerly for Santa to go by on his float, and then finally seeing that sleigh and red suited man coming into view! Luckily in the Halifax region we have several chances to make that magic happen for your family.

Halifax’s Ronald McDonald House PJ Walk: Volunteering as a Family

One of the questions I am asked a lot is how local families with young children can volunteer together to teach their children from early on how to give back to their communities. The Ronald McDonald House in Halifax is hosting a super fun, all-ages PJ Walk that the whole family can get involved in! Last year the Halifax Ronald McDonald House provided 4,887 nights of comfort to 553 families travelling here for medical treatment; and, between the RMH House in Halifax and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in Halifax and Moncton, they served 2,283 Maritime families.

Halifax’s Ultimate Parent and Tot Resource Guide

One of the most important things for new parents to do is to connect with other new parents, ideally in person.
